Message to Alberta Conservatives.

You tied hard to support Pierre and the CPC. The numbers show that. You came out in record numbers. You worked hard to talk to your neighbours and gain support. And you provided the CPC with several more seats in Alberta. I’m proud of you all. You participated in the process and did everything you could to stop the Liberals. Some of you are always going to vote CPC, it’s in your blood. You are their base. Some of you voted against the Liberals. You were strategic. Some of you voted the lesser of two evils. You were hopeful. Even with all of that effort and support, you still lost. I hope now you understand why. It’s because Ontario and the East has, and will always, decided the general election. With the Westminster and first past the post systems, the West will never have real representation. It’s designed that way. The Reform Party tried, and also failed to get us at the table. It was a noble effort of Preston Manning to notify Ottawa that the “West Wants In” but as we learned, the East does not want us in. This election should teach you two very important lessons. One, the two party system is stronger than ever as we just saw all third parties get destroyed. And two, there are not enough conservative voters in Canada to dethrone the Liberals. So, were does that leave us? In a very bad, abusive relationship with Ottawa. What should we do? Do what Albertans do best, stand up and take control. In the Westminister, first past the post, two party system, the only option left is to leave it. Just like any bad, abusive relationship, sometimes realizing it and leaving is the only option. And just like many divorces, everyone will be better off when the abuse stops. That’s where I am at. It’s time for Alberta to leave Canada and become an Independent country. It will not be easy, but we will survive, prosper, and have a brighter future.
