Outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has agreed to implement a $1.3 billion dollar border security plan after a Monday evening phone call with President Donald Trump.
In return, Trump has agreed to pause 25% tariffs for a 30-day period, similar to his agreement with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Trudeau shared the news on social media.
“I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl,” Trudeau said on X.
