I am very pleased with the Dr. Metra Report about the success rate of Covid 19 Recoveries and the rest broadcast on CKNW and more than likely reported elsewhere this am . There is absolutely no doubt the plan as set out by Dr. Henry, Adrian Dix, and Medical Professionals was very successful and I salute all of them . Of course one could question the clearing of about 5,000 hospital beds in B.C. but the steps taken were exactly what should have been taken, it was very good policy .
I am very happy that we in YVR have handled and dealt with the virus in such a successful way but should we not recognize that we in this area are also very fortunate that circumstances favoured us greatly ? IMHO before we hand out titles of “Hero” and so many others we need to take not of the facts .
I do have a question or two though and it would be nice to hear media ask several questions of the authors . Just how well would YVR done if the Covid 19 virus had hit at the peak of our cruise/tourist season ? Let’s keep in mind that there are not that many tourists travelling to anywhere in Canada during what is the normal flu/virus Season between November and say May .
We must recognize that New York and say New Orleans experience more tourism in the winter than we in YVR experience in a total of twelve months ? Again, think of what could have been in July in YVR ?
We must also keep in mind that air travel into the U.S. was restricted very early on but thousands from China flew to the EU, the UK, Italy, France, Spain, and then many flew on to JFK, is that not significant ?
We must also look at the relative success of Florida and how the C 19 pandemic was handled there .
Something that took place very early on in China during the early stages of the C 19 Pandemic that really concerns me is the following .
How could China restrict millions of Chinese Nationals from travelling to Beijing yet for a long period after the CPC allowed Chinese
Nationals to travel to several other world nations unimpeded ? How can that make sense to anyone ?
Then of course we must ask questions of our own Health Officials in North America, questions should be asked .
I can appreciate there has been a change in policy in Canada but I have yet to hear any one ask Dr. Tam to completely explain why .it appears to me that some health edicts and those issuing those ever changing regulations have bent and shown more flexibility than the “Rubber Band Man” in Cirque du Soleil .
Yes, Yes, yes, I am aware it is a moving target but are we not entitled to a detailed xplanation on those changes in protocol ?
