What? The Federal Minister Proposing Almost Doubling CBC’s Budget ? No ! It Must Be Eliminated !!
Now Mr. Poilievre , our leader of the Opposition and likely next PM, here is your chance.
Speak clearly and say if elected PM —-
“I will introduce a Government Bill to eliminate CBC. No public broadcaster ! “
The Public Broadcaster is just a mouth piece for the Administrative State —the Government and all its totalitarian ways.
Epoch Times is carrying the story of Federal Heritage Minister Pascale St -Onge , the Minister responsible for CBC in the Federal Cabinet , making this proposal.
Here is part of what the Minister said according to the article:
“ St-Onge proposed that Canada increase the per capita funding for CBC to $62 per person. The CBC received $1.4 billion in federal funding in 2024 and, under the new formula, the Crown corporation would receive approximately $2.6 billion. She said the funding amounts would ultimately be decided by “the next leader and by the next finance minister.”
The heritage minister also said CBC’s funding should be taken “out of the election cycle and the budgetary cycle,” by cementing its funding through legislation instead of through yearly budgets.
“CBC/Radio Canada doesn’t belong to the Liberals, it doesn’t belong to the Conservatives, or to any other political party,” she said. “It belongs to the Canadian people.”
Sadly, what we find is that the Public Broadcaster belongs to the Government. The Minister mentions that the UK and Germany spends $62 per person on their public broadcaster ( Canada presently $33 per person) and we should do the same and that would give CBC an annual allocation of $2.6 Billion . It is now $1.4 Billion.
Anybody look at the UK or Germany lately and see how their free speech laws are going ? The state in both countries is restricting such laws . Hear of Tommy Robinson in UK and Fullmich Reiner in Germany . Both in jail for the crime of exercising their free speech rights. And their Public Broadcasters are right behind the Government in doing this. This is why US Vice President Vance ‘s recent speech in Munich hit such a cord. Democracy is on the decline in both countries and Europe generally.
And we saw what happened during the Truckers Convoy—-free speech denied , bank accounts frozen, citizens thrown in jail for exercising their free speech rights , the constitution abused and ignored and the public broadcaster in full support of the Government’s actions. In my own legal case ,with other Canadians , the Courts refused to hear it: The Federal Court, The Federal Court of Appeal and The Supreme Court of Canada.
Our courts refused to inform the citizens if a Government action which blatantly restricted their rights of travelling was constitutional .
And then the final straw!!
“The news organization’s ( CBC) role in “fighting misinformation” should also be “enshrined in legislation,” St-Onge said, citing the threat of foreign interference and propaganda. She said CBC/Radio Canada’s mandate also needed to include its role as a source of reliable information during emergencies, such as the wildfires in Jasper in 2024.”
We don’t need an Orwellian monster to fight misinformation and provide us with the truth.
Now, if this is not stopped my contention ,for some time now , especially since Covid, that our democracy is on its last legs will have be amply demonstrated.
